Walkway Support Data
When used as a walkway, expanded metal provides a good, slip resistant floor that is self-cleaning,
allowing water, snow and dust to drop through.

Fit with the flat side of the mesh intersection uppermost and fix with the slope of the strands in one
direction only. Fix in position by either clamping or welding.

The following are the maximum clear spans that will give a deflection of less than 10mm or 1/200thof the
span as defined in BS 4592 and BS 5950 when subject to the uniformly distributed loads shown below.

Clear span is the unsupported distance between the supprting steelwork.
Allow at least 30mm support on either side.
For walkway lengths greater than the shortway dimension of the sheet, overlap the panels by at least
one diamond and fix with clips or butt weld at every joint.

Removable Walkway Panels
Clamp securely to frame using our special walkway Lux Clips designed to allow easy fixing and
removal of the walkway mesh.

Welded Walkway Panels
Weld every fourth stag to the frame for extra strength..
